At the end of July a ceremony was held in the European Parliament in Brussels where medals were presented to the awarded Bulgarian wineries by the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
This year the competition took place in Poreč, Croatia between the 12th and 14th of May 2023 and Bulgaria won 40 medals (2 Grand gold, 20 gold and 17 silver) for red, white, rose and sparkling wine as well as the highest award – Revelation (wine discovery).
Zlaten Rozhen received 3 gold medals one of which was a Grand gold (Bulgaria has a total of 3 wines which have earned this medal).
- Sandanski Misket Parallel 41 2022 – gold medal
- Cabernet Franc Parallel 41 2019 – gold medal
- Cabernet Sauvignon Exclusive Lot 2017 – double gold medal
Rosen Osikovski and Federico Ricci (Zlaten Rozhen’s consultant) received the certificates and the medals which will be added to the “wall of fame” over at the wine cellar.
Over 100 diplomats, members of the European Parliament and politicians tasted Bulgarian wine, as the event was organised by the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB) and the importer of Bulgarian wines in the Benelux “Probegex”.
In 2023 Bulgaria also achieved the highest success rate since 2016. The ratio of medals to submitted samples is 46% with an average success rate of 40% over the last 10 years.
According to Christophe Sepulveda from “Probegex” this shows that the level of Bulgarian winemaking is consistent and that the Bulgarian terroir is undeniably appealing to the foreign consumers.
